there were many old factories throughout the area.

i think this was the old naval headquarters.
odd to find a naval hq in a landlocked country.

That group participated in crossing the river Dnestr. Jako-Kishinev operation during the great civil war. The only known method in the world created for crossing any river
with a railroad capable of carrying unlimited tonnage. One of the best technical engineering achievement of the Soviet Army.
